ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Livia Xandersmith is an artist living and working in St. Louis Missouri. She received her MFA in Visual Art from Washington University in St. Louis in 2022. She is a surrealist painter who paints on canvas and wood with oil and acrylic paints. Her work focuses on the simultaneous quality of our modern times and the overload of images and information available to us. She is interested in examining American image culture alongside collective and personal memory. Livia has always been interested in using painting to analyze society and the past through crafting a curated collage of images that marries poetics, pop culture, and the personal. Toxicly bright colors and familiar yet subverted imagery collide in her large-scale painting installations.

Kiki Salem (b. 1995, Al-Bireh, Palestine) is a St. Louis-based multidisciplinary Artist, Designer, Writer, Educator, Entrepreneur, and dream warrior demigod. Through various mediums with textiles at the focus, her practice covers topics of escapism, occidental assimilation, orientalism, experimental visual pattern development, linguistic hybridization, and the Palestinian question. Kiki is a member of the Screwed Arts Collective in St. Louis. Her wearable collection, Punk Ass Arab (@punk_ass_arab) can be found on Instagram.

Sam Modder is a Nigerian-Sri Lankan artist that works figuratively in pen, collage, and digital media to portray larger-than-life Black, female characters taking up space in real and imagined worlds.
